Pierre Georges Diéterle (Paris, 24 March 1844 – Criquebeuf-en-Caux, 30 July 1937) was a French landscape, waterscape and seascape painter and photographer. He was the eldest son of Jules Pierre Michel Diéterle, a well-known theatre designer. He graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1863 and became an architect before devoting himself completely to painting from 1872 onwards. He was both a friend and pupil of Corot. He settled in Criquebeuf-en-Caux in Normandy where he became mayor in 1881, holding the post for 34 years. In the same year he was made curator of the museum of painting in Fécamp, an office he held until 1931. He became a member of the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris in 1883.

Diéterle selected his subjects above all from the landscape of the Seine basin and in particular the Normandy countryside and sea ports like Le Havre, Yport and Fécamp. He participated in collective exhibitions in France and abroad including: Salon de Paris (1872 to 1936 with an honourable mention in 1887); Paris Exposition Universelle (1889 and 1990 winning two bronze medals); international fine arts exhibition, Munich (1889 with a 2nd class silver medal); international exhibition, Chicago (1893); Exposition international et colonial, Rouen (1896 receiving a silver medal). In 1999, the Terre-Neuvas museum, Fécamp presented a retrospective of his work entitled The Diéterles, a Family of Artists. He was awarded the Palmes Académiques and was decorated with the Légion d´Honneur in 1897.
