Anton Bayer - Antique 1822 Portrait Of A Woman
Share
This exquisite original 1822 antique oil painting by renowned Bohemian artist Anton Bayer features a finely detailed portrait of a woman dressed in an elegant silver-lavender gown with a high Empire waist, typical of early 19th-century fashion. Her calm expression and composed posture reflect both grace and social stature.
Anton Bayer was a Bohemian painter born in 1768 and died in 1833. Known for his refined portraiture, genre scenes, landscapes, and miniatures, Bayer studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, a center of classical academic training.
Working primarily in Prague, with brief stays in Budapest (1821–1823) and Vienna (c.1825), Bayer served an elite clientele, including members of the Thun and Nostitz noble families. His work is deeply rooted in the Neoclassical tradition, often softened by the emotion and realism of Romantic art.
