A remarkable pair of original oil portrait paintings signed with a monogram and dated 1848 by the Swiss artist Aimée Dalleizette, depicting an elegant gentleman and lady from the mid-19th century. These beautiful portraits capture the refined sophistication of European bourgeois society during this golden age of portrait painting.

The Gentleman's Portrait:
A distinguished man portrayed seated, dressed in formal black attire with a crisp white cravat and collar. He holds a book in his hand, suggesting a man of letters or professional standing. Executed in oil on hardboard, the artist's masterful handling of fabric textures and the subject's calm, confident expression reveal Dalleizette's exceptional skill in capturing personality and social status. signed with a monogram and dated 1848 in the lower left corner.

The Lady's Portrait:
An elegant woman portrayed in three-quarter view, wearing a grey silk dress with voluminous sleeves characteristic of 1840s fashion. Her elaborate bonnet adorned with ribbons and her crossed arms create a composition of dignified poise. Painted in oil on canvas, the subtle play of light on the luxurious fabrics demonstrates the artist's technical virtuosity. Dated 1848 in the lower left corner.

Both paintings are in very good condition. The portrait of the woman has been relined. The gilded frames have several small areas of loss, which do not detract from the overall appearance.
