Jacques Jobbé-Duval – Cows in the Meadow – 1888

Jacques Auguste Jobbé-Duval was a French painter known for his landscapes and genre scenes. He was born on August 23rd, 1854 into a well-known artist family; he was the son of Armand Félix Marie Jobbé-Duval, prominent painter, philanthropist and Parisian politician during the Third Republic in France. He studied at the École des Beaux-arts. He worked both as an artist and as a civil servant. He died in 1942 at the age of 88.

Attractive landscape representing cows in a meadow drinking from a stream. Relined and restored by a previous owner. In good general condition, with a few small scratches. Signed and dated 1888.
