Henri Etienne Jouard is a watercolourist and illustrator born in Geneva (Switzerland) February 21, 1853. He was part of the "Chat Noir" team, a famous Montmartre cabaret operating in Paris between 1881 and 1897, popular with painters and writers. Jouard worked at the satirical magazine of the same name from 1882 to 1895 and often collaborated with Le Journal de Paris newspaper. He exhibited his work at the Salon des Artistes in 1883. He died in Paris on May 20, 1935 and is buried in the Montmartre cemetery.
