Henri André Bouvrié, French painter born in Vertus (Marne) in 1896 and died in 1973. Pupil of Mr. Emile Humblot and L. Salles. Member of the Society of French Artists.

This painting represents a lumberman and his horse taking a break from clearing timber on the edge of Gérardmer Lake, located in The Vosges department in the east of France near the German border.
