Image Analysis: Venus, seated on a cloud and accompanied by Cupid and the Graces, appears before Vulcan, and orders him to make weapons for Aeneas; the god sits at right, holding a hammer and shield; behind him, the cyclops bustling around the furnace.
Inscription content: Lettered with production detail: ‘Lud. de Bollogne inv. Et Prinxit – L. Desplaces sculp.1717’, publication address: ‘a Paris chez la Veuve Chereau ruë St. Jacques aux deux pilliers d’Or’, title and inscription in Latin with translation in French.
