Large oil on hardboard painting representing a landscape in the region of Bourbonnais, a historic province in the center of France that corresponds to the modern département of Allier, along with part of the département of Cher.
Jean Joly was born in Vichy (Allier) on 12 October 1900 and died in the same city on 1 September 1952. A decorative painter and president of the "Compagnons de la Peinture", he painted mainly landscapes of Bourbonnais and Auvergne.
