Original oil on canvas landscape scene representing two fishermen by a river in the Scottish Highlands. The marvellous gilt frame has a museum label with artist’s name. The frame is in quite good condition, with a few small imperfections.
Georgina Lara (act.1840-1880), also known as Edwina Lara was a London painter of rustic farmyard and village scenes. Her work also closely resembles that of Edward Masters who also went by the name of William Masters. They are believed by many to be one in the same. However, there is also a possibility that she may have been related to the artists William Paul Lara and Edward William Lara.
Lara exhibited a number of works at the British Institution and Suffolk Street.
