A Village Square – Circa 1960

Robert Pavard was a French painter born February 24, 1922 in Rouen. Thanks to his father, a musician and composer, he grew up in an artistic environment where he rubbed shoulders with musicians and painters at a very young age. A brilliant student of the Beaux-Arts in Rouen (student of M. Bocquet), the artist obtained at the age of 17 the first prize of the School of Fine Arts, then at 19 that of drawing at the school of the Beaux-Arts in Paris. He also distinguished himself in architecture and in the restoration of old paintings.

From 1958, he exhibited throughout France and Singapore. He won numerous gold medals in painting fairs and his realistic painting excelled in all the subjects he dealt with: nudes, animals, flowers, landscapes, scenes of everyday life, seascapes ...

Many museums exhibit his paintings: Monaco Art Museum, Saint-Flour, Grasse. Robert Pavard received the Academic Palms and the Diplôme d'Honneur Avignon. He died in Nîmes on September 1, 2009 at the age of 87.
