Portrait of a Lady - Circa 1830
Elegant portrait of a Lady dating from the French Romantic period. Attributed to Louis Hersent (Paris 1777-1860). The sitter is represented half-length and sideways in front of a draped background, turning her gaze towards the viewer. She is wearing a blue floral-patterned evening dress, a yellow chiffon shawl and a long white glove on her left hand.
This unsigned oil on canvas painting has been relined and restored. It is mounted in an attractive early 19th century French Empire style gilt frame with palmettes.
