Fernand van den Bussche - Coastal Landscape - Circa 1950
Bright, large format oil on panel painting representing a stretch of coast along the French Riviera near Cassis (east of Marseille). A very definite impressionist influence, noteworthy are the mistral wind shaped Mediterranean pines and how the shade, the coastline, the clouds and even the surf all seem to flow in the same direction. The use of colour and light is also remarkable. A beautiful composition!
