Charming oil on canvas painting representing a country landscape scene with a village in the background and a small stream running through it. Restoration is recommended; there is missing paint along bottom, particularly both corners, flaked paint in a few areas, minor tears and yellowed varnish. It is clearly signed in the bottom left corner; however, the date is partially lost: “Albert Mühlemann, Nov...”.

Charles Albert Mulheman was born in Buxy (Saône-et-Loire) in 1886. He studied at the Lycée in Grenoble and then at the Fine Arts schools in Dijon and Paris. He began his career as a drawing teacher at the Jean-Baptiste Say technical school in Paris. A graduate in Literature, he combined his artistic and teaching career with the writing of several books on the theory and practice of drawing. He was co-founder and cartoonist of the humorous weekly "La Bourguignotte" published between 1915 and 1966. Albert Mühleman died in Le Kremlin-Bicêtre (Val-de-Marne) on July 11, 1969.
