Paul Rigoulet – Village View – 1959

Paul Rigoulet, French abstract painter, was born in 1924 in Samöens (Haute-Savoie). He studied at the National School of Fine Arts in Paris, Jean Souverbie workshop, then at the Boulle school. He participated in the Salon de la jeune peinture in Paris in 1953, at the Salon des Indépendants in 1956 and 1959, at the Salon d'Automne in Paris in 1983.

An artist of international renown and a true arts researcher who has explored many fields: acrylic, watercolour, collages. This artist was very interested in rurality, in its scenes, in its figures. Throughout his life, he shared his fascinating, audacious visions. Paul Rigoulet lived between Auvergne and Nice, where he died in 2019.

Large format oil on canvas depicting a village view. A label on the stretcher indicates that this work was exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants in Paris in 1959. To underline a singularity about this painting, the artist painted a still life with flowers and fruits on the back of the canvas.
