Ernest Berthier – After Mass – Circa 1920

Lovely watercolour and gouache painting. It depicts parishioners leaving the church of Saint George after Sunday mass.

This church, recently restored, was built in the late nineteenth century, in the “Gothic style with three naves”. The bell tower, whose curious coronation is not without interest, was raised at the beginning of the twentieth century. It is located in Labatie-d’Andaure, in the department of Ardèche (Auvergne-Rhône). (Source: Wikipedia).
