Description

Alexandre Jacques Chantron was a French painter of religious scenes, figures, nudes, portraits, still lifes and pastels.

He was born in Nantes on January 28, 1842. Pupil of Pirot, Bourguereau and Robert-Fleury, he made his debut at the Paris Salon in 1877, where he garnered an honorable mention in 1893, a 3rd class medal in 1899 and a 2nd class medal in 1902.

He often painted history and genre scenes, portraits, still lifes with flowers, and later in his career, nudes in the style of his master Bourguereau.

Chantron died in his hometown on January 3, 1918 at the age of 75.

This original painting represents a bouquet of roses of various colours in a landscape at dusk. A work of superior quality. It is signed and dated 1875 in the lower left corner. This canvas is available without frame.
